Music player crackles?

I think my music player has pops and cracks when it plays. I am not sure if it is the G1 or interference from nearby devices, but most likely the music gets interrupted by the other functions of the phone.
Or maybe it's my crappy MP3 files? Whats your experience like? Upload some MP3s to the SD card and listen in.

I've been meaning to ask everyone's opinion. How is the sound quality of the default music player? Does it have an equalizer? Could it pass as your everyday mp3 player?
