I just got off the phone with them, cause I've never gotten the OTA, i've always done it manual; he wanted to make sure the imei # they had for the phone was correct; and in passing he mentioned they were getting ready to push out the ota updates.

This thread says it is for US G1 users, which I am using a USA G1.

It says not to ask about root. Only that if you got your cupcake, and I do.

I JF'd mine and some how have the developer build. Seems like I shouldn't have a developer build but I do. Not that I can do anything with it.

Yes, it reports up to date.

As of now, there is NO official retail 1.5 update in the US.

The only reason everyone is confused is because of the photo that surfaced last week of the OTA update on a *rooted* phone, which was essentially a hoax because it didn't come out until EVERY site picked up the story, that it wasn't running official software.

The idea for this thread is great, but we really need the ROOTED users to stop commenting and causing further confusion.
