Android SDK Cant get it to work

hey i have been trying for a few days to get the android emulator to work. i unzipped it went into tools and double clicked the emulator and a command window opens then closes before i can do anything. Any ideas? i have tried it on a win xp machine win vista machine and in vista even tried run under sp2.

I kinda would like to start learning about it but i just cant get it to work Please help me

When you make a post like this, and you find out the answer to what you where looking for through other means, it would really help if you actually wrote it down or atleast gave a link to the site where you found out.

That way, in the future, when people are searching cause they can't get the emulator to work, they'll learn just like you did.

With that said, I wasn't aware that you could run the Android emulator without first running some code or the debug.

Everytime I wanna use the Emulator, I just go into Eclipse and run some code. That always bring the emulator up, and then I just exit out of the App that was run by pressing the 'home' button and then I continue using the Emulator.

Uhh... you can just add the android/tools directory to your PATH system variable. (System Properties/Advanced-->Environment Variables)

Now just type "emulator" (plus args if needed) into the run dialog and bam. Android.

or just navigate to the tools folder and click on emulator.exe

Yes but adding to your environment variables is a "nicer" way to do it. Who wants to navigate to the folder every time they need to use an Android related tool.
