Cannot mount phone after gaining root

I just gained root access by following the steps in this forum. The only problem is now whenever I connect my phone to the computer it says it's found new hardware and needs to install a driver which it cannot find. Does anyone know what to do now? I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere.
