Change "ABOUT PHONE" Status

Hi

I'm currently using my G1 outside the us with a local sim
everything works great except msn mssenger
(works on the wifi - just not on 3g)

I get an error which says "unknown phone number"

duno why msn needs a number but

went in the settings about phone status and under phone
I see: "unknown"
I have no option to change this

maybe thats the problem? hhow can i accsess that info??

I know if you are on with a TMO sim you can just call them and they can send your number OTA, not sure bout being on a local sim outside the US though.

it has to do with the network and the sim card showing and recevining the number from the cell network.

Ummm I'm guessing its the local orange sim not showing the right number but
1, what has the number nd msn mesnger have to do with each other??
2, can I still hack in to the status and force enter my cellular number to fix it??

I've just come across your thread and tried it myself as I can remember having seen the "Unknown" phone number, too. And: It doesn't work for me, either. Seems to be a bug?

I'm in France with a US T-Mobile G1 and a new Mobiho SIM with the "unknown phone number," too. Unfortunately in the complications of installing the SIM, first time using the unlock code for the phone, and getting the whole thing to work, I vaguely remember a request to type in the new phone number somewhere. I just tried to power cycle the phone to see if that came back, but no. I could be wrong, and hope it wasn't a one time chance. So. What up?
