Does anybody know whether the SIM switch software used by these adaptors would be compatible with 1.5?
Hi,
Has anybody successfully got a dual sim adaptor to work in the G1?
There seems to be plenty of options out there but do they work with the G1? Is this even possible with the Android OS?
I'm considering doing this to save lugging 2 phones around (business + personal).
Any advice welcome!

come on - somebody must know something?
This is what I learned from other posts here at androidcommunity and in a German forum:
The consensus is that digital dual SIM adapters (where switching from one sim to the other is controlled by a software) do not work yet.
Analog adapters would be more likely to work. These adapters switch between SIM cards after being powered off, so no interaction with the Android OS would be required. Switching would be done by turning off and rebooting the phone, or (much more convenient) by activating/deactivating airplane mode. Unfortunately, I found only one reference where somebody actually tried it, and it did not work. The SIM card was not recognized by the G1. (For those who speak German: http://www.android-hilfe.de/t-mobile...-nutzen-4.html)
Thanks for the response.
I had read similar info in older posts on the net but had heard that the latest version of the Android OS (1.5) would resolve this as it included the SIM Toolkit?
Forgot to add, I plan on using the same google mail account with both sims - does this make the dual sim more of a possibilty?
found a good company that does dual sim phones in the uk with uk warranty /spares etc, www.myluma.com
i actually bought a model from them called the W7 and its got all modern connectivity such as email wi fi and am really pleased with it
