Finally I changed the case of my G1

So, after receiving the white G1 case kits and the black G1 keypad about almost a month ago I finally decide to do this. I originally asked my "electrician" fiance to help me but he was sooooo busy and I got tired of waiting. Today, I was looking at my boring brown G1 and decided to do it by myself.

Taking off the body was little hard, I almost broke my nails. Anyway, I opened it up and I didn't really disconnect all of the boards and connections. Taking off the menu button part was easy. I changed that part really quick, then I had to do the front case. OMG I was so scared.

When I lifted the screen and all other whatever boards behind it I found out something was missing. The new casing I ordered was just the plastic case itself, seriously. It didn't have other necessary parts in it, so I had to take off all of the little stuff from my old one. and I had to destroy the old one to do that. While i was doing that, I was crying "why did I do this... I'm stuck now I have to finish, if I don't get that little piece from the old one I can't even have a phone anymore.... " Litteraly I had to carve the plastic to take the little piece out. And used a big hammer to put that piece in the white case.

Putting everything together was easy. and now I have this new phone.

What is wrong with it?
I can't touch the screen anymore. Same problem as Johnny.
What else is wrong?
I can't do anything.
I can look at the home screen and menu and everything with the track ball, but as soon as I try to open any app, it force closes all the time. Even when I'm getting a phone call, it force closes even before I answer the phone.

I suck.

sorry to hear this, same deja vu' as me before,

hopefully my dad can some how fix the touchscreen so i can help you fix yours

I just talked to Tmo to find out about the insurance cost. He told me I have to pay $130 to get a new G1. and I asked him how much the my Touch is gonna be. since the presale starts in less than 10 days, if it's not too different I'd rather buy new my Touch. he said it's gonna be under 200 for sure. Even if I'm not eligible for upgrade cuz I used it for G1, it's still gonna be under 200 FOR SURE. so now I don't know.... should I wait a month to get a new phone and live without a phone? or... should I get just replacement G1?

i say wait for the my touch its gonna be worth it, i guess still try to see if you can fix your g1 still so you can make phone calls at least and navigate via trackball like i did for like 3 weeks lol

my only concern is, I guess, the physical keyboard. The invisible physical keypad was the main reason I started thinking about changing the casing for G1. I originally was only thinking about changing the brown G1's keypad with black. Then I decide to be more brave.
Would I be fine without the physical keyboard? Cuz due to the slow very very slow G1's touch response I usually just open the side up and type with the keyboard.
I don't know, I'm kinda getting tired of G1 getting slow more and more. maybe it's time to change to my touch. i hear it's faster. But is it true? or is it just the same with different design?

well, the VK on the touch and the g1 is pretty good i can live without the g1 keyboard now.

and its just a bit faster with more memory so its a good upgrade from the g1.

ima wait longer to get the HTC Hero or some other android phone with better specs and physical hardware.
