Madoco rooted this phone a week before it was released and shortly after Amon Ra made a new recovery image. With all the new Nexus One's in our community its best to have all this information right here on AC to simplify things. This information was taken directly from his page http://android.modaco.com/content/go...exus-one/Enjoy!!!
Superboot is a boot.img that when flashed, will root your device the first time you boot (installing su and the superuser APK). No need to flash the system partition, no need to use ADB, no messing with the contents of your data partition, no overwriting the shipped ROM on your device, just flash the boot image using the instructions below and you're done!
APPLY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Before download, you need to check your device 'about' screen to determine whether you need a superboot for 'ERD79' (the original shipping ROM) or 'ERE27' (the latest ROM).
Superboot for ERD79 - download MD5: 4e27cf36ebcab51cfb6813d67bbacabe
Superboot for ERE27 - download MD5: 19d302e1bcb18932f009d2a36a3d688f
Superboot for ERE27 with himem enabled - download MD5: 96a33732400d08888c605557c849ec61
Note: If you apply the himem superboot and wish to revert, you will need to reflash your ROM, as the himem superboot includes an updated wifi driver.
An insecure boot image is also available, which allows you to manually deploy su and superuser.apk if you desire - it makes no changes to your system, aside from enabling 'adb remount' permissions.
Insecure boot for ERD79 - download MD5: 3fef6f98f4e86f888a719d638eed7862
Insecure boot for ERE27 - download MD5: 49f01a7d3d8ffc2d9c912a30a02c25b6
How to use Superboot - Windows, Linux and OSX
- Download the Superboot zip file
above and extract to a directory
- Put your device in bootloader mode - Turn off the phone then press and hold the trackball to enter the bootloader
- WINDOWS - double click 'install-superboot-windows.bat'
- MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh' followed by './install-superboot-mac.sh'
- LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh' followed by './install-superboot-linux.sh'
Note: If you are using a retail Nexus One, you may need to unlock the bootloader first, as detailed here.

Thanks for the great info. Did we confirm it is underclocked to 663 or is there any sort of speedstepping involved??
Also, can you included alternate instructions for Linux and Mac, or would it be the same?
[for the sake of less questions down the road, it may be good to cover all bases]
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me

Thanks for the info though.
