Hate to say it but you have every right to be scared. Even if you follow these instructions exactly (great tutorial btw) there is a not so small chance of a bricked G1; especially on the "flash the new SPL" part. Its up to you to decide if its worth it.

the rosie and the hero UI is making me salivate. Im running cyan 3.4.6 with htc hero theme right now and im loving it, i think im gonna be fine for now, but part of me wants to try this but the only thing that's stopping is the adb stuff and spl stuff. I haven't heard of that before, i'm afraid to brick my phone

Well adb isn't hard at all. It may seem a little confusing at first but CT made a great ADB Tutorial that really helps. But I see that your on cyan's ROM, I thought that required the new SPL, but I could be wrong. Haven't been keeping up with Android news as of late. After Hero beta 4 I'm at a complete loss on which ROMs are best and what they require.
