    Default holding down the home button does what


    when i holdown the home botton it shows varoius apps.. are these running in the background and how do we then turn them off ... i think if you turn the phone off they turn off.

    also how do we turn off the terminal emulator app

    They say its recently used apps, but if you go to the Market and download Poidio's Service Viewer, this shows you the apps or "services" your using at the time. Although lacking the feature of exiting used services or apps, still a great tool to have.

    It is NOT a list of apps running in the background. It is merely the last six apps you have run so that you can quickly return to them. If you want to see what is really running in the background, download the service viewer app from the Market. Some apps like Tunewiki and some built in stuff are always running, but the last six apps as listed when you hold the home key are not running. Contrary to people's complaints about not being able to close apps, I think that most apps do close when you exit them or start another app. The apps save their last state so that you can pick up where you left off but they aren't all always running.
