Does anyone know how to delete all deleted POP3 email at once in the email app, rather than one at a time? I saw some old discussions on this, but didn’t look like there was a clear solution.
I could clear all data under Settings-Applications, but that will likely clear all folders – inbox etc. and probably the account setting – lol.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Wow. ZERO replies.
Me thinks I am screwed.
Oh feature-rich Cupcake, where art thou?
Which email provider are you using?
Bump
Does anyone know how to permanently delete trash email from POP email?
I couldn’t find a way to do it in bulk fashion, so started deleting them one at a time, but noticed the deleted ones were coming back. *argh*
I’m using the POP access to Hotmail and have cleaned out my deleted items there, so they are not reloading from the server.
To work around this I have been deleting message directly in Live Mail to get them out of the G1 inbox, but everything I deleted previously on the G1 is permanently in the Trash.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
I had this problem with the supplied email application on my G1 - very frustrating that I could not empty the trash folder!! The only way around it that I could find was to delete the account and re-set up...
However, I have now changed to K-9 email (in the Market under productivity) and it's fab. Not only can you empty trash but there are other options in the app too.
cheers
My email will not really delete (using stock app.) even when I delete. My solution is, do not delete them at all. Eventually I will download my email off the server with my computer, and then when I download new email on my phone, the current ones will "synch out". In other words, the email app will only show what's on the server. If there is nothing there, it will "remove" the old ones from the phone. Not sure if this will work if you select "delete from server" when you download to phone. If it does, careful, then they are gone for good.
I stumbled onto the solution to this last week. This works on my HTC Dream (which I believe is the same as the Mobile G1)....
Bring up the eMail application.
Press MENU - select the DELETE option
Press MENU again and you get a pop up allowing you to Mark or UnMark ALL
Choose Mark ALL. the pop up goes away.
Now the Delete option will show you have selected all your messages and you can dispatch them by pressing DELETE.
voila !
This may be an old thread, but I had the same question about my new phone (with Android 2.2). At the Verizon store two separate staffers told me it wasn't possible. But if you open the mailbox, and click on the menu button there's now a "Select All" option. Click that and then click "Delete" on the next screen, and you're set!
I had the same problem, and after looking at this forum, I still couldn't figure it out...
I had about 600 messages in my Andoird eMail Application's inbox. When I clicked the "Delete" option from "Menu", it was always blank.
I thought... hmmm, maybe I just need to wait for a little while for the list to populate. Poof! That was it!
All messages delete, phone memory open again.
Thanks for the help on here guys!
