Question installing Android in place of WinMo

I was wondering about the status of Android development such that I might believe, sometime in the near future, I could install Android in place of WinMo 6.1. For example, to purchase a North American UMTS 850/1900 HTC Touch Pro (or possibly one of the new 2009 offerings, which for the most part are WinMo devices) and instead install Android(??)

    TIA

It's definitely possible, but you want to be posing such a detailed modding/cooking/porting question per HTC device to a forum like XDA Developers. That's really their forte.

Only other HTC phone that'll work currently is the Vogue. The HTC Touch Diamond wouldn't function unless someone put a software keyboard on it, or until Cupcake is released. But the Touch Pro would be an excellent choice, though nobody seems to have tried it out yet.
