not sure where to post this but I just order my first android phone a mytouch 3g. I would root it but I got a quick question. The I click program tutorial as seen here http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news...android-phone/ Will that work for my phone? And also I keep reading that u need to backup ur original rom in case u want to revert back to factory. Now when I run the 1click program and u hit the button "backup" will that be all I need to do to back up my original rom? I've jb iPhones before but the android phone seems a bit mor complicated. Thanks guys.
yeah as much as i hate the "1 click root" i think its the simplest way to go if you have a MT3G
i think the backup button just backs up your recovery image and not your ROM but if you follow everything to the T then you should be good

THE FASTEST AND EASIEST WAY TO ROOT
Well I have an iPhone right now and ive dealt with jailbreaking and customizing ect. But for some reason rooting the android looks so much more complicated for some reason. Basically I want o backup my current brand new tmobile setup before I wipe it clean in case I decide to sell it or if I need to send it back for any warrenty issues. Is it hard to revert the phone back to factory if I root it with custom firmware?
lol of course the iphone is easier to jailbreak its all done thru a program its dummy proof

THE FASTEST AND EASIEST WAY TO ROOT
im reading up on this gold card thing...do i need this with the 1click method?
Honestly I herd that rarely works.
The thing is witht he Magic/Mytouch is that no one has built a recovery image for it so everything has to be done through ADB commands, I don't know jack ---- about ADB but I can turn my g1 inside out and upside down in a heart beat.
The 1 click root is ideal for me and a mytouch if I ever choose to buy one, it's just discouraged because everyone who has had a g1 has put a lot into it the first time they had to manually root it on there own.
But you'll learn here if you stick around.
yeah theres alot to learn...can u tell me do i have to partion my SD? what is the signifigance of doing that?
some roms , like cyanogens , do apps2sd automatically if the sd card has an ext2 or ext3 partition . it makes apps to sd very easy !

thanks...i think i'm gunna go with the cyanogen rom...that one seems best for me...although isn't hero better? i just basically want to be able to speed up the phone and add a few themes, ect...so i'm thinking cyanogen will be best for me...
cyanogens is by far the best(i think) . its the most advanced , feature filled , speediest android rom around . you might want to stay with the stable builds for now , i like the experimental builds . anyways , here are links to both...

stable http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537204
its very impotant that you read the first 2 posts in each thread . also , you are going to want to install cyanogens recovery 1.4 later on . here.....
