Gonna restart my Phone and see what happens...

Interesting, everything works, again for now.

maybe the 3G network was down at least when I first applied the new update...?

thx for commenting uber, thought it was just me

I can tell you that everything will work after a reboot. I started having issues again about 10-15 minutes after that. At the moment I'm getting about 30 minutes up followed by some down time. Rinse, repeat.

I'm not terribly convinced it's an RC29 problem. I post here, XDA and TMo news and it seems there is a broad spectrum of "I'm having intermittent data problems" today. I honestly have no idea what's going on. I have 2 friends that also have G1's. The one that preordered like I did AND also did a manual RC29 update isn't have an issue. The other one bought it from a brick and morter, still running RC19 and he's not having an issue.

And just to add, I did this update yesterday and didn't have a single issue through the entire day yesterday.

ok so i updated my phone but other than the USB connection option what did the "update" update? sorry if its a dumb question.

also should it still say firmware version 1.0?

Am I downloading the file from my cpu or can I do this through my G1?

Edit: the RC update doesn't have anything to do with your phone going into edge or losing reception/service...I spoke to a csr because I was experiencing the same issues over the weekend (mind you I don't have the update) and he told me that the towers were down in many parts of NYC and upstate and whatnot...that they were working on the dilemma...I haven't gone through the update yet but this weekend would of been a scare cause I would of believed it was due to the update I was experiencing such issues.

Kineda, Do you have all 3 of your data synchronization options checked? Just curious.
