    Default Learning Android

I am looking to learn Android, but not having much success teaching myself through books and tutorials.

Anyone know of a school in the NY area offering formal training in Android programming?

Hate to say, but a a Google search wasn't much help.

    Thanks,
    CP

What do you want to learn? Android can be learned mostly by playing with it...and to code you need to know Java...

I highly doubt there are any formal training classes...as there's nothing to really train. I can teach you how to use the phone in a day.

first thing you need to do is learn java, and then from that it isnt too hard to apply the concepts onto the android SDK. there are thousands of resources online for doing this. if your struggling with the tutorials and such maybe you should start with java tutorials and then move onto the android ones.

Yeah. Where are you now, knowledge-wise? While it's possible to learn Java in the process of learning to write Android apps, it's going to be a good deal more difficult. All of the Android coding docs and tutorials assume that you already know Java. You need to at least already be familiar with OOP in general, and experienced in a programming language or two.

Try Marakana.com. They have nomad courses in the US and NY is one of them. They are steep, $2,375 per registrant. I'm still thinking really hard about it cause it's quite expensive but their online tutorials on YouTube look quite good.
