    Talking new to andriod

Hi i'm new to android and as a matter of fact this whole open development wave of technology(my last decent phone was a sidekick 2). I now own a samsung moment and am very pleased, but im looking to maximize my experience(its my phone i'd like it to do what i say lol)

as far as the phone goes its beautiful, the screen is incredible even on the lowest brightness(i keep it at 30 %), the processor is an 800 MHZ processor and the overall feel is great.

i'd like to know is there anyway i can:

    1) delete apps, widgets and icons permanently even if they are native to the build

    2) automatically stop specific programs(weatherbug, sprint navigation, moxy mail, calendar, alarm etc) from starting by themselves......by either placing them on an auto-shutdown list or something like that when they try to start up

and id like to be informed about what he term "rooting" means and does any1 know about any 2.0 update for the moment.

sorry if this is in the wrong place or all my questions are rudimentary, id really appreciate the feedback

    1. You can't delete native apps with out root, you can just take them off of your home screen.
    2. You can use Advanced Task Manager to stop the different apps, it will stop selected apps at 30 minute intervals or you can stop them when you want.

Not sure if your phone is able to root yet, if so there are different links, these just tell you what you can do.

agree to everything...make sure you read up on rooting though there is a lot of info and just jumping in right away can lead you right back here for hours lol...that being said I dont think the moment has been cracked yet as ggrant stated..soon though

I second this!!! Definitely read it. My advice would be take the easy route first. I'm sure when they figure out how to root the moment, they will come up with an easy system for it. Especially if youre new to this, figure out the easy way then check out the in depth parts.

I got WAY ahead of myself and im stuck with a not working phone that i cant fix until i get home. lol GO ME!

    GOOD LUCK!!
