Phone Wont Turn On Properly

I have my friends phone that i am trying to fix, it has water damage. i dont know how/when it got messed up though (i didn't ask him) but, when i turn the phone on, i get the screen with the "!" inside the Triangle with a little phone icon. His phone isn't rooted. I tried to flash an OTA RC33, and this is what happened:

• icon with a box and arrow to phone came up, progress bar filled up all the way
• phone restarted and an icon with an arrow pointing to a chip came up, after about 15 seconds, phone restarted
• Icon with a box and arrow to phone came up (again) progress bar didn't fill up at all (this screen only stayed here for 2 seconds)
• phone restarted again.
• once it was done restarting, that same pic with the "!" in the triangle + phone icon came up.

so basically, the update.zip didn't work.


next, i tried to put it in bootloader mode to flash the DREAIMG.nbh file or whatever to the phone, but when i pressed and held both the CAMERA and the END button, the G1 screen came up and it went back to the "!" screen. so basically the phone wont go into bootloader mode either. is there anything else i can do to fix this?



oh yeah, and now i can't even apply an update.zip with alt+s anymore... nothing happens.
