I'm on break at work so I won't be able to help to much.
But first ithink you can downgrade from rc33 directly to rc29 (which you have to get for root)

But what steps or on what screen are you getting disk full error?

full disk error = write protected?

Downgrade into RC29(which is not patched to protect root), not RC30(patched to protect root).

    Hope that helps

I powered it back on and im still on rc33

Did you copy the DREAMIMG.nbh file to the SD card before you turned off your G1?
