I'm sure it will be eventually, you might take a look over at xda.

Is the Moment an HTC phone?
    I don't think it is...
Meaning, it wouldn't be on XDA since it's an HTC dev site.
Not other carriers like Motorola And Samsung.

Not sure if it is or not but you are right if it isn't an HTC phone it won't be there.

Its a Samsung, if I had it I would try the one click root method. Is 1.6 on it?

I got this phone the Sunday that it got released. I have found that the one touch rooting method does not work with it, even though it is running android 1.5, it must be already patched for that particular security flaw. I have managed to get into the hardware test mode by pressing the green call button, optical track pad button, and then the red power on button. It seems that there is a firmware update option available in that menu. Maybe thats a way that we can get closer to root...

Also when I press all three buttons in addition to the volume down button the phone will reboot in a loop loading the Samsung (SPL?) logo. When the buttons let go it boots right up into android. Maybe that is fastboot?

I really like the hardware specs of the samsung moment way more than the hero, but its the dev community at xda-developers that sways me at all towards the hero. In the end I would rather have the hardware, somebody will eventually figure out an inroad. We just need a more centralized forum. I noticed somebody created one at http://www.samsungmomentforum.com/ Hopefully it will get filled with some good developers soon, it already has about 100 users a day hitting it up.

By the way, I work for an indirect sprint dealer (L2Wireless)
And if you have any questions as far as eligibility or upgrades on this or any others sprint phone give me a call at 1 800 581 5001 ext 201 and I can look it up for you way easier than talking to sprint directly. Maybe I can save you a couple dollars a month, or get you a Moment or Hero without the regular rebate hassle you go through at the sprint store.

Try pulling the battery, waiting a bit, putting it back, and powering up.
