    Default Sim Contacts

I saw in a video somewhere on the web, that there is a way to "import" your contacts from your sim card, to the G1. From what i understand the G1 will automatically import your google contacts, but what about your sim card? How do you import those? Or is there a way? Please help me out. Gotta know before next wednesday, lol.

Okay great! thats what i was hoping to hear. Is it gonna be just on the main menu, or will it be difficult to access? i just want to know before it arrives so that i can just get it done. i wish it was automatic.

That i'm not sure about. I did hear that it was a step of the phone setup, when you first boot up the phone, you put in your google account and then it asks you if you want to synch contacts...hope thats the case as well.

Many of the contacts on my sim card are the same as the ones I have in google. Does this mean that I will have duplicates on my phone?

No because you won't have to sync them.

Its pretty easy. All you have to do is select the contacts icon. Next select the menu button. This will bring up a settings option. From there you can import your SIM contacts.

This will create some duplicate contacts though. I suggest setting up your contacts on your gmail contact list before hand so that everything will be nice and "clean" when the info is synched to your phone. The is also a contacts de-duper application you can download from the Android market. It works pretty well. Basically it will go through your contact list, display any multiple contacts you may have and then prompt if you would like to merge them. It missed a few, but all in all its worth the download.... plus it was free.
