    Default Using another messenging software

I've seen a few other posts relative to this but they didn't quite solve it for me. I want to use Handcent Sms instead of my default messaging software. When the notification pops up to ask which to use i check the "set default" box and select handcent sms. This never saves, it asks me for it every time i want to send a text. Also, how do I disable the regular sms software? I went to applications under settings and I don't see anything for disabling it there. There's no way to turn off the notifications under the notifications settings area. Can anybody help me out? It's really quite annoying for both handcent and my regular messaging service to both go off when I get one text.

There is a way to turn off notifications in the stock messaging app. If you go into the settings in the stock messaging app, there is a box for notifications. Uncheck the box, and there you go... No more notifications from the stock app. But, before you do that, go into the notification settings and pick "silent" from the list - just in case.

As far as you other problem, after setting handcent as the default, perhaps you should reboot the phone after that.

The Lord is my strength and my redeemer...
