Default Android Market Access w/o G1?

I understand that the Android market is accessed off the internet. Is there a weblink to it to view it, or does it require a G1 to access it?

I found this so far: http://www.android.com/market.html
But the link is closed and it states, "Coming Soon".

When clicking the link it says "Android Market will help developers get their applications in the hands of users by acting as an open distribution system. A beta version will be available on the world's first Android-powered phone, the T-Mobile G1."

I think meaning its only going to be on the phone for now

Android Market will have some form of back end so developers can upload applications. However I imagine you will only be able to download applications via an Android device.

I've been able to access the Market on my desktop, but the site locks-up when I try to DL any of the apps on it. But I am, (er.... was? Haven't checked it today...), able to access the site and look at the aps that are up so far.... But like I said, that was yesterday, and this is today, and I'm on my BlackBerry, which won't access hardly anything since it developed 'Brain Damage'!! The power's that be may have shut it down for now, since the last time I tried it....

Same way as I just did on my BlackBerry just now, I went to:

    http://www.android.com/market.html

I get the same message as listed above, and below that are a handful of aps, and I just tried DLing PacMan with my BB, and it gave me a 'Java Script Error', but it didn't freeze up. So, I'm guessing that you have to be running the Android OS to be able to DL any of the aps..... Just a Guess....

That is not the actual market on the phone. There are only 6 apps shown there. The actual market on the G1 has way more than 6 apps.

Actually it says the 6 apps shown are an "introductory sampling" of the apps in the marketplace.

I'm assuming it will open up, even on the desktop at the appropriate time.

Heck, if I could have accessed the AppleStore via the web just to browse around at the apps available, I might well have an iPhone right now! But since Apple continues to have such a closed approach to their products, I elected to wait for something else.

They'd be stupid not to have a web interface... if not just to browse apps/read descriptions/reviews

In case anyone runs across this thread, I thought I'd point out that I've implemented such a thing: http://www.cyrket.com/. ;P It acts as a client to Google's Market and should be as up-to-date and accurate as getting the data using the device itself.
