With all of this excitement about android, I don't think I have heard one reviewer talk about the actual call quality of the G1. I've watched quite a few videos on the G1 (and I pre-ordered two of them), but I haven't heard of anyone rate how it does with basic phone calls. I currently use a sidekick and the call quality is not that great, and I am looking forward to a better device that makes clear calls (like my blackberry).
Has anyone heard anything about call quality?

With everything this phone can do, I'm sure there will be a mental telepathy app. It will just send your thoughts to the other person. HA HA HA! All kidding aside. I have a Dash which is HTC and have never had a problem with dropped calls from TMO, So I'm hoping the two together will still be as good.

Is there really a difference between phones with respect to call quality? Aren't they all pretty much equal now? If anything, different networks may make a difference. Although I have checked and if you look around you can find web sites that describe the power out for your cell phone. One might argue that more power out should equal better call quality and reception (and maybe more brain cancer, but that's another thread). The iPhone puts out 0.974 W/kg (in the US, we have a max of 1.6 W/kg). From the users manual, it states that the G1 has a SAR (specific absorbsion rate) of
1.11 W/Kg @1g (Head)
1.08 W/Kg @1g (Body)
You can make your own conclusions.

You are lucky I stumbled across this video. I've been wondering why no one asked this question until now, because a lot of phones are held back by poor call quality. For example, people complain about dropped calls on the iPhone.

I saw a report just yesterday on Fox News about a study somewhere, I think it was Sweden. They were talking about carrying your phone in your pocket could lead to low sperm motility, I guess it could be caused by the higher W/kg maybe. I need a lead lined case for mine because its always in my pocket.

of the 5 HTC phones i've had, they've all been excellent call quality with an extremely loud speakerphone of good quality as well even for listening to music... now i know that people will say that HTC phones are horrible reception, blah blah blah, but you'll find the vast majority of HTC phones have good quality speakers as well as having good reception...
