i asked this in another forum today, but i think I like the looks of this one better.
Anyway basically, i have a white G1, love it, and it came with an adapter to let you use any 3.5mm headphones. This was totally awesome considering my last HTC device had some proprietary usb headphones that were just trash.
Anyway this adapter chord is pretty long, and after I attach my normal headphones, the chord is about 6 feet long total. Way too long. I think they just wanted to make it long enough so that the microphone bit would reach your neck, but still, kind of a hassle. I'd rather just have no mic on it and make it short.
Anyway I was wondering if anyone knew of any USB jack adapters for the device that have some sort of way of externally changing tracks for music? I ride with my music and it is impossible to try and adjust anything when its in my pocket. I have seen audio devices with very simple modules that are tethered to the audio cable that let you skip track play pause etc. Is there something like this for the G1 or any other HTC devices? Hopefully with the 3.5mm audio jack...
If the answer to the above question is no, then I ask you this:
Would it be possible for someone to develop an application for android that lets you use the existing answer call button on the mic (on the supplied adapter) to control your audio? Think back to the late 90s where sony walkman devices had a single button to do just the same purpose. One click is play/pause, two clicks is skip track, three clicks is restart/reverse.
Opinions?
The default button on the headset already does what you are asking, did you try to double click it?
And, my solution to having two long cords (as I do like to be able to answer my phone when I have my headphones on) was to get a custom cord made for my headphones that is six inches long. Basically it ends at my shoulder where the HTC cord meets it with the microphone.
This was the closest thing I found to what you're asking for. http://store.androidcommunity.com/co...1-29--5242.htm
