Agreed. I want bookmarks. I think for now, I will just use the builtin player to play my music and have meridian play audiobooks because it at least remembers the position of the last file played - which should be my book if I do all my music playing in the builtin app. Not at all ideal, though. I want Rockbox like bookmarking. Maybe it is time to write a separate audiobook app that does just this...
anything changed ? i mean is there already any audiobook player for android which has bookmarks ?
I'm a big fan of audiobooks, and I have the answer for all audiobook fans.
Tunewiki is a decent music player, but it does not support audiobooks so you can cross that one off your list.
I've tried close to a dozen audio players over the past couple of days, and was close to losing hope of listening to audiobooks on my newly acquired HTC G2.
I upgraded from a Sony Ericsson K550i which supported stop and resume via its built in audio player - in that regard Android feels more like a downgrade. I can't believe that of all the programs I went through, only 1 was able to support pause > exit > resume on load. this is quite unbelievable.
The one you want is Meridian Player.

we are offering a special discount for the application before it is released
through the Android Market, so be sure to grab it now.
We are sorry because we have to circumvent the selling through a third party,

release it fully through Android Market. Those who will buy the application

There is a new audiobook player for the Android called Ambling BookPlayer. There is a free Lite edition and also a Personal edition on the Android Market. Their web site says that a "Pro" edition is also coming. I really like its book marking and audio file management features. You can see more information about what features it has at http://amblingbookplayer.com/
Thank you so much for this. Just downloaded the free version, will buy if I like, again thanks.
Your very welcome. I really like listening to audiobooks and it is very nice to have a player that doesn't lose your place or forget which file you are listening to. This player even has a bookmarking history with undo and redo to help make sure you can't lose your place even if you accidentally jump to the next chapter, or somewhere unexpectedly in the book, you can just go right back to where you were.
Please try Astro Player. It has advanced bookmarking functionality for better audiobooks and podcasts support. Besides that, it shows lyrics and has convenient file browser with play media folders option. We are open to any suggestions or opinions. More info: http://www.astroplayer.com/forum
