Hi,
(UK / T-Mobile G2 Touch)
Hope someone can help...
I can't get any BBC videos to play through the browser on my new G2 Touch.
I've installed the beebplayer app from the android market, and that works fine for the videos on the bbc iplayer.
However, I want to play videos on the bbc web pages as well - eg. news, sports clips.
I don't see any reason why this shouldn't work, as the BBC site itself says that T-Mobile supports their streaming media.
However, when I try to play the videos, I keep getting the error message 'file type not supported'.
T-mobile support told me to remove the battery & sim card, and put them back in again, and that would fix it - but no joy.
Is anyone else able to watch streaming video on BBC web pages with T-Mobile ?
Do I need to install a new media player application ?
Are there any other connection settings I may need to change to make it work ?
Many thanks
These videos require flash player which is not supported on Android 1.5. If you wait a little while until 1.6 is released, they should work then.
Flash player is available on different ROMs for rooted devices but that is not a good enough reason to root your device![]()
Thanks Supernova.
A couple of quick follow-ups...
- Will Android 1.6 be released through the phone maker (HTC) or the network providers (T-Mobile) ?
- Will I be able to install Android 1.6 onto a G2 Touch with the HTC Sense UI, or will it be one or the other ?
Thanks
flash is not in donut android 1.6 we all have to wait for adobe.
