Default Can't receive SMS from online sources (i.e. AIM, or web app accounts)

I use a decent number of web apps, where you link it to your cell phone, for notification text's, etc. In order to link your phone, after entering your phone number, the web app sends a text with conformation code, to that number, and you have to enter the code on the website. But all the apps I have tried this on, I never get any text. (Yes, I have double checked the number!)

Also, normally you can add any phone number to your AIM buddy list, in this format "+13365551234" -- I added my new t-mobile number to my buddy list in this way, and when I try to send an IM (which comes as text to the phone, when you IM a phone number) I get no text on my phone, and it replies in the IM "This phone number cannot be reached."

I am about to call t-mobile about this, but just wanted to see if any others are having same problem.

FYI: I have tested, sending an SMS to my G1 from another cell phone, and that works fine.

Just talked to T-Mobile rep, and it is a know issue in my area. (NC -- 336-210-xxxx) There is a problem where we can't receive SMS's from out of network or something like that. I asked, and there is no estimated resolution date. It had better not be more than another week or so, or else they are getting into the totally unacceptable catagory.

In all fairness, I do have to say, they did give me 200 extra minutes, that can be used over the next 3 months. I hadn't even asked for compesation yet, and the rep told me that he could check and see if there is anything they could do to compensate. -- Not that I really need the extra minutes, I doubt ill use them before they expire, but atleast they made the good faith gesture. That means a lot to me.

Did you ever get a response to this query? I've called t-mobile 5 separate times because they cant get an sms from THEIR OWN WEBSITE to my phone. The website confirms that the message has been sent, then it never shows up on my phone. I can send and receive sms phone to phone just fine. I can use the website to send sms to other g1's just fine. Something is not provisioned correctly on their website with regard to my phone but no one will look at it. Each time they take all my information and say someone will get back to you in 5 days, then SILENCE. Yes, they give me the extra minutes but this is getting ridiculous.

Also, can someone verify for me that everyone with a G1 should be able to receive an sms via email if the sender uses the ###PHONE###@tmomail.net format. That doesn't work for me and I think it should. ARRRGGGGHHH.

    Thanks.

    Jon

fyi, for some reason texting was weird today; I have received multiple error/could not be/was not sent messages today on multiple chat clients, on laptop and phone; TMo and friends on other carriers (V and ATT) had same; are the text terrorists on us today?
Done with Android; tired of waiting; G1 for sale by owner!

My issue was resolved eventually. I am able to get SMS sent to @tmomail.net, and sent from IM's, and virtually all webapp's.

I am still unable to get a verification text from skype (so that I can use my G1 number for caller ID), but I think this is a problem on the skype end.

I feel your pain though!!! Hope it starts working for you soon!
