Default Enabling "Vibrate, then ring" option on the G1 (Yes, you can do this)

    Hey all,

I have seen several people ask whether the G1 supports a "Vibrate, then ring" option, and I believe it has finally been confirmed that the options are Vibrate, or Vibrate AND ring...

Well, that's no biggie. If you want to have your phone vibe THEN ring, it should be very simple:

Simply take your ringtone into your audio editing app of choice, add as much silence as you want to the top of your ringtone, and put the padded version back into the phone! You can even add a fade up if you want, and it will allow you to determine how many "rings" you want to be silent before it starts making noise. In this way, it's even more flexible than most phones with the option! Now, someone will probably add an option at some point, and I'm not denying it would be nice to have it built into the phone, but in the meantime, if this feature is a must-have, you can do it yourself! It's definitely an acceptable work-around.

And if anyone here doesn't know how to do any of this, feel free to get me your ringtone file, and I'll add the silence, or fade-in, for you - if you want. I'd be glad to help!

Thank God it does vibrate AND ring at the same time!!! I hate vibrate THEN ring, because by the time the vibrate ends, the call might be already on its way to voice mail. Sometimes, I will feel the vibration, but other times, I won't, like when I'm walking fast, and a ring would be nice. That's one feature I really liked in phones sold in Asia, and now I can have it on the G1!!!

Here's to hoping that the Android platform doesn't base it's ringtone vibrations on the soundtrack of the ringtone (ala Sidekick). IF it did, the silence at the beginning of the track would equate to no vibrations...
