yah I traded in the rooted White G1 for the droid and I could not be happier. The continuous 3G on verizon is to my liking but the bill is not....

From a thread at XDA Dev.....I think you want these two commands if you already have an ext3 and just want to upgrade to ext4.

    Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534714

    Code:
    tune2fs -O extents,uninit_bg,dir_index /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
    e2fsck -fpDC0 /dev/block/mmcblk0p2

I had trouble getting e2fsck to run. It obviously doesn't want to run with it mounted, and I couldn't get it to work in the recovery console. But I think on Cyanogen's roms it gets run automatically at boot anyway.

I also run cyan 4.0.4 and just tried this on my ext3 apps partition. It worked fine after just running the first command and a reboot.

For the record the easiest way to go from ext3 to ext4 is through the RA 1.2.3 recovery. From the alt x console just type utility and pick option 1, not that I want or need an ext4 partition.

No it doesn't wipe your apps.
Download it, put it on your sd card and from the terminal console type.
    1 su enter
    2. flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.3.img
    3. reboot recovery
And that should put you in the RA 1.2.3 recovery. My other post tells how to upgrade to ext4.
