I had a G1 that would squeek when I slid it open. It also lagged. After talking to 3 reps threw chat, 2 reps at the stores, and 4 on customer services, I was told I couldn't walk into a TM store and get a replacement because my online order was a different invoice db.

I had to send it thru ups and wait 5 days to get a new one. I really didn't have time to not have a phone so I just forgot about it and decided to keep it. I got off of work early this past Friday and a package from UPS came. It was a brand new G1!!! I had just had to return my current G1. I LOVE T-MOBILE!!! I wasn't even expecting it!

Update on my replacement, after a week or so of use.

Everything good I mentioned before is still doing good.

I just want to add that it ALSO seems not be having the wifi problems that my first G1 did. (if left idle, when pick up phone and try to use net, I would have to turn off wifi and turn it back on, to get it to work -- sometimes even had to restart my router --- but not anymore! it works like a charm now!)

    Please read this thread :

    http://gadgetsonthego.net/2008/11/t-...ery-for-t.html

I checked my battery, it has part no : 35H00106-02M, but time life is very bad. I charge my G1 fully in morning and use low bright screen, no wifi, no bluetooth, no 3g, no GPRS and G1 is low battery in evening.

If you read the thread, battery which has part no : 35H00106-02M is replacement battery. But battery is still bad.

I'm from Vietnam and buy an G1 on ebay. My G1 come without 3.5 jack, xxx-02M battery and fw version 1.0. The device usualy warm when I use Wifi or play game and out of battery fastly.

I searched on ebay, I found some reaplacement battery (not OEM) with 1200mAh, who checked this type, please write a review, and who can help me call to Tmobile to ask about my case, the battery is so bad and I dont have issurance and I'm not in US.

funbacon, where'd you get that battery? i stumbled upon your post via Google. i was searching for part no 35h00106-02M - the part # of the "OEM HTC" battery i just purchased from a reputable seller on eBay. and none of the "that's what you get from shopping on eBay" crap. anyone who actively shops/sells on eBay knows that the amount of negative experiences are far less than ones i have had in normal retail situations.

back to my point though, it looks like these are bogus (which i am happy to have guinea pigged myself for). here are some pics of the packaging/battery...

there's a "tape" wrapper vs. actual plastic. it came pretty with 60-70% charge and i ran it from that to dead, lasting about 13 hours. i was VERY happy as this was = to the original battery that came w/ the phone. the battery then took 6-7 hours to charge and died within 20 minutes. it's hard powered-off the phone twice. i yanked that bugger out and put the original back in and all is fine.

i'm working this out w/ the seller right now, but i wanted to get this content on the Web.

there's also a thread going on over at HoFo and i'm starting to see a clearer picture now. granted, those people were trying 1600 mah battery in some cases, but the results of this battery are the same. and how the F does one part # cover two battery capacities?

hopefully this helps someone avoid the same issue.

Actually, the battery in the pics above closely resembles the replacement battery I got from T-Mobile. I just compared the original to the new one I got from T-Mobile not a few moments ago. So I wouldn't worry too much, schlongwoodian.

I don't know why you think it looks "fake", tengtengvn, aside from the fact that it doesn't look like the original (which is not surprising if it's a new revision). The packaging does look suspect, though (-: And I have read that electronic items off of eBay are often very well-made counterfeits.

well, it's definitely a bunk battery regardless. i can see why tengtengvn would say it's a fake though. the print on the outside - the htc INNOVATION text - is blurred. not saying this with any scientific approach other than, i wear nike sb and dunks a lot. when ya shop for them - especially on eBay - you see the fake ones from china all over the place. there are very specific things that distinguish legit from fake. so, again, i don't know for a fact that it's a "fake," but it's enough to arouse suspicion.

also, the point that is important to me is, this is not OEM. if it was OEM, it wouldn't be in that crappy packaging. well, maybe it would, since OEM stuff comes in plain/no packaging. who knows, i'm definitely gonna get the seller to send me another and give him a chance before taking any further steps.

he's got a HUGE feedback score, so his business is important to him. he's probably taking the approach of, "most people are morons and won't know." i can only do what i can do, which is report him to eBay for selling fake goods. he cares about that or he doesn't, and eBay and PayPal don't side with sellers, period. one unfortunate thing that in this instance, will help me tremendously.

i'm gonna swing by the T-Mobile store tomorrow and take a look at the ones they have there. they come in those blister packs, like the "shell" case i have in some pics up here. i'm pretty sure i remember those not having a "tape" cover, vs. the plastic shell that the original one (the truly OEM one) had.

    i'll keeps err'one posted! weeeeee!!!
