Hi,
Just hearing (seeing rather) a lot of talk about how the HTC Hero can import your Google Contacts..
It so happens that I have over 500 "contacts", where appear to be simply people I have had email correspondence with in my Gmail history and not necessarily people/contacts that I have manually chosen to add to any particular contacts book/list..
So how will this import work?
I guess this must get asked ALL the time, but I'm slow!
Other than deleting all your unused contacts first, I could see no way of getting just the useful ones in.
It would be nice to be able to just syncing the ones in a certain group. Maybe creating a group online called 'phone contacts'.
Anyone know of the best way to do this? I would certainly be interested too.
Loving tech & gadgets to the full!

I dont think there is anyway to do this, it syncs everything. Before I synced my contacts with the Hero I went to "most contacted" within google contacts and deleted all of the random email addresses that get saved.
What I plan to do is once a week go into google contacts and delete the email address that get saved over the week. Google really needs to create an option to not automatically save frequent contacts

Why would they have changed it from the way it worked on the G1??? On the G1, you can set it to sync only certain contact groups... I ahd the same problem as everyone else til I figured it out.

Don't know if it'd be ridiculously convaluted, or even pointless, but couldn't you export your address book to a new gmail account and import that?
