I spoke with a t-mo rep just to see if my order got shipped today or not, she said no but she did get into a conversation with me regarding the g1..she said one thing she found out recently was that people shouldn't be scared of downloading from the market because Google scans the program before they make it available in the market. This news is good for the people who were worried about catching a virus on that oh so precious G1!
That's a relief to know!! It makes sense that Google would do that though!
Google has to get this right, right out of the box! "The G1 and Android that is!"

Yup. I remember hearing a couple of months ago that they would be scanning marketplace applications before they were made available. And that is the reason why they suggest that you download applications from android marketplace instead of other online sources.

I hope by the time the market is made available, they make it clear what they "scanning" for. We don't want the same situation like the iPhone. But I guess it will put to rest the worry of "viruses" some people were making a big deal about a couple of days ago.
not for nothing but who would be stupid enough to create a market place and allow developers upload virus's ? in that cause there would be no point in having a market place cause no one would trust it.![]()

Just keep in mind it's a CC representative, they sometimes like to just tell people what they like to hear, nothing is official until Google releases a statement of some sort.

Yes.
I've worked at three and have experienced first-hand the crap that reps will tell people to get them off the phone or to make the rep seem knowledgeable.
When Google says it, I'll believe it.
When you install software, it tells you what things will be accessed (ie GPS, internet) so you have some sort of forewarning regarding the software's reach.
I hope you're right, but I don't want people to get a false sense of security.
