Hi everyone,
I just got my G1 in the mail today, and I wanted to try it out and see if I like it better than my unlocked iPhone (running on TmobileWeb).
I read a thread to set the T-Mobile US APN to wap.voicestream.com with proxy settings, which I did.
Unfortunately, I can't get google to connect and it won't let me pass that screen.
Any ideas how to get around it?
Thanks for any assistance.
TJ
I had the same problem. I took my phone into a T-Mobile store and showed them the inability to connect to the Google servers. After I mentioned the SIM card (this was my second phone as my first wwas missing from the box) the rep noticed that the SIM numbers didn't match so just stuck a new SIM card in the phone, updated the system via his comp. in the store and, BAM!, I was up and running.
I'd say the easy way to fix it is get the plan intended for the phone and pay for what your using. Just an idea.
May I ask, Is the phone you received today Black or Bronze!?

Yes, I had a G1 plan. When I turned originally turned on the phone, I would get the signal bars, but no 3G or edge symbol. Once the new SIM card was in, it immediately picked up the Edge signal (from the repeater in the store).
I suggest you just go into the store and ask the rep to check your phone SIM with what they have on record on the computer. Don't mention the plan at all, just say you can't connect and think the SIM maybe out of sync.
