Here's a big new problem I'm experiencing

This just started happening late yesterday- now its doing it alot.

I'll be doing something in the phone- playing music, browsing, whatever..

and then i want to get back to the home screen.

Normally- I'd hit the home button and be there in a flash.

But now, I'll hit the home button and I'll get a black screen- and it hangs there. Sometimes for like 45 seconds.

Today i got the error message to force close or wait.

what have I done differently as of late? I dl'ed more apps and added some music- maybe 20 tracks, and had been listening to them.

so I uninstalled about 3 apps and its still doing it.

I try slamming your G1 onto the ground a few times, I bet you it wont freeze anymore?

Try powering off the phone, and turning it back on again. That doesn't sound normal at all.

I've had the same problem after pressing the home button, but mine only hangs for maybe 5 seconds and it never prompted me to force close in this situation. 45 seconds is a ridiculous time to wait to get back to the home screen.

How many songs, total, do you have now? If it's over 1000, then I'd say that's your problem.

If it's that music player problem again, they really need a fix for that. But it should still be able to finish scanning all the songs even if it's over a 1000, it just takes a while.

ive noticed the same, when i hit the home button, it shows the wallpaper and then it takes about 5-10 sec for the icons to show up

Mine is slowing down too. I think it's too many apps running in the background? Maybe?
Is there a way to manually close down these apps? Hard boot maybe?

Hard boot is only way. I heard there was an app called task switcher that lets you see how many apps are running beyond the 6 you can normally see holding down the home key.

it happened to me when I added a couple of albums...i turned off the phone and turned it back on, it's working perfect now
