How to switch from $24.99 plan to $19.99 Total Internet Plan... of $5.99 TZones

Hi guys, I read the official FAQ that you can switch to the $19.99 total internet plan. I called in today and the lady told me "we don't offer this and the minimum you can get with the G1 is $24.99". This is lame since I already have unlimited text messaging on my family plan. Now, what options do we have concerning changing our data plan to a lower rate?

People are reporting different things in different threads, so I figured it'd be nice to have the clear cut answers in one thread.

I tried the same thing and got the same line. I have an unlimited individual plan that includes unlimited text messages. What burns me us is that the ONLY reason I'm on a contract is because I switched to the unlimited messages plan in May (same price as my old plan). So, now I get to pay more for my G1 and more for data? Not happening...

you can use the 24.99 plan with your family txting instead of switching to 35.99..thats what im gonna do

i am on the same boat. I have family text plan 19.99 and they made me get the 24.99 plan. Super lam if anyone has a method pm me plz.

Why would you get the $35 plan if you already have unlimited family texting?

When I bought my G1 the manager tried to scam me into the $35 one claiming my unlimited texting plan wont work... I told him I spoke to several customer service rep about this and they said I should be fine. When he said that sounds like a pretty big risk I told him well that is a risk I'll gladly take, thanks... now can you please just add the $25 plan and charge my card so I can leave?

He seemed pretty pissed. lol.

and could someone also please PM me the work-around, I feel like I'm wasting $5 a month.

guys i just removed tmobile to tmobile on my account and when it came up with the "changes made page" it also had selected the data service to be removed. i took a screen shot and now it does not say "data plan required". sweet niblets!
