HTC Hero or Magic? and why is the Magic dearer?

So, excuse the lame question.

Of the two the Hero looks sleeker, 3.5mm audio jack, nice Sense UI, slightly better battery.

Both have same screen, same memory, GPS etc.

But to me the Hero & Magic look pretty closely matched.

So, why is the Magic more expensive (at least in the UK) than the newer Hero (Magic £499, Hero £399)?

Are there any more differences that I have missed?

Two long lost siblings, at last reunited. But can there ever be unity? We don't think so. At every turn, the HTC Hero seems to trounce the myTouch 3G -- it's really hardly a contest. The myTouch is certainly lighter, and in many ways "feels" smaller because of it, but the size differences really are negligible. They're still both great phones, but the Hero really feels like a million bucks, while the myTouch feels a bit like a toy. Unfortunately, only one of them just went up for pre-order on T-Mobile, and it's not the one we want to marry.

Boils down to the end users choice,it`s more expensive there in the UK?

and is it still the 1.5 android OS? or is it a new one.

If i had a choice and in a perfect world I would still choose the Magic. The magic just looks more normal and imo has a perfect form factor. The weight and the screen is good. Just wish it can run the hero rom without any glitches or features that doesnt work.

no carrier in the u.s has picked it up speculation is that sprint or at&t might get it later this year maybe.

Well I could not believe that when I searched a sim free Magic was £100 more than the Hero.

who knows but the review jet posted should tell u that the hero is the better phone.

the site i got my hero from has the magic at 599 and the hero at 395.....lol

weird.

but then u look at other phones and theyre in the 600's and theyre crappier.

maybe due to low demand or difficulty to get unlocked versions of those phones so they buy low bulk and end user pays the premium.

So how much is 599? And here I am thinking I paid too much, you can do what we did - Buy imported, BUT like us your 3G is a no no ( I think ).
