Is there any difference to this process if rooting a UK (vodafone) HTC magic? I read somewhere there are differences between the US and UK versions and a different image is needed? i dont know if there is any truth in this?

@Crazy... the root-access.exe download in your sig contains all the files and info to get an HTC magic sorted? just want to hear it from the horses mouth.

Im looking forward to using tether but i dont want to take any risks with the phone.

Tried last night to follow wiki rooting guide but failed better than a 90year old pole dancer, must be running adb and fastboot etc wrong or driver wonky .....ah well guess ill just stay vodafone uk's biatch for longer then booo

had a bit longer at it last night and managed to get up to installing the moded spl etc, still one step foward as the drivers and abd work fine now i could see my device listed this time around....still think im gunna wait for a super smooth rosie for magic

well i followed both processes, initial root then replacing su, i got right up to the last step and it wouldnt reboot via terminal in dos. I restarted the phone opened terminal and typed # su, i got an error UID 80061 blah blah so that didnt work.

I would advise anyone on UK vodafone to leave it as is, and if your looking for a tether program use pdanet which give net access via the usb and doent need root on yer phone.

my build is now showing CRB17, i have no idea how to get back to how i was, as im now recieving widget errors but at least i can use nandroid to backup my full settings.
