just rooted my phone, have a few questions

hey guys, i just rooted my phone following these directions :

by the way.. i just tried to use droid sans tweak.. and it says operation failed once i try to enable autorotate.. well i know i have root access now because i can do the multi touch in the browser.. any help is appreciated. thanks

welcome to AC.

two big advantages of root are the ability to move data caches to the SD card, and the Task Manager app for killing processes.

if it wasn't 4:30am here, i'd find a thread for you; try the search bar up there and look for "moving caches." there's also an "advantages of root" thread i think.

thank you oh but my question was.. am i behind a few updates because i used that website to root my phone.. because i just saw that theres a new JF 1.42.. and also a new radio update that im currently not up to date on.. also my droidsans tweak is not operating how it should. thanks

edit: and now apparently i cant use any themes.. always says verification failed installation aborted.. did i root my phone incorrectly?

2nd edit: used search function.. easiest way is to have apps on sd card first

yeah, umm (i'm tired, sorry)...

i'd stick w/ v1.41 (i'm still on it--it works well) until you find out what you want to do, but definitely install the radio update. just d/l it from xda and name it update.zip

i haven't messed w/ themes, but you'll find info on themes & root here.

i only use droidsans lite.

hopefully someone else will chime in to help...

its very common that droidsans fail the first time, but make sure you have the right versin for your phone, I think there is another version for ADP1, and once you do that select the first option; remount as read/write, then anable auto rotate, if it fail just click it again, sometimes take 2 times, then its gonna ask you to reboot; chose the last option: reboot
as for the upgrade if there is a razon to stick with jfv1.41 you can but I'll upgrade to jfv1.42_RC33

yes, but try to read up on this at xda before you do it. from what i understand, it is a minor upgrade, and you may have to do a wipe, but maybe other knowledgeable people can respond.
