OK I'm gonna root my freekin G1-

I have this guide to go by:

HOWEVER- it seems that guide at the top of the post is a bit outdated- it mentions http://jf.nyquil.org/v1.31/JFv1.31_ADP1.zip

and if im not mistaken, the latest is v.141, correct?

My questions are twofold:

1) Where would I find the latest JF version to use?


2) Is there anything else in the above guide's steps that is outdated (and thus I should go about differently?)

The newest version is v1.4.1 and that doesn't affect how you perform the downgrade/upgrayedd.

the stickied thread above the one you posted has jf 1.41, I don't think anything else has changed about the rooting process. and shouldn't until possibly the phone is "officially" updated.

Thanks guys- i just found that later post by JF

so I just do the steps listed in the first post, but skip the

v.1.31 file and use v.1.41 from the later post instead, right?

Oh by the way- re: Backing up the phone to do a factory reset..

If I have root and I'm using JF 1.4.1 can i do the regular old MyBackup/Factory Reset to reset my phone?

Or will I have to do extra steps due to the root? ... or will MyBackup not work at all?

factory reset keeps you at jf141 but otherwise just like doing a factory reset unrooted.

not sure about mybackup I've never used it.
