More User Review.....
Got this off another forums.....
I got to use a G1 today(I work for T-mobile) at work for a few hours.
It was well built and responsive. Voice quality was very good. It was as good or better than my dash, better than my wife's blackberry.
The phone feels solid and the screen slider is very solid. The soft touch finish on the back feels good.
The touchscreen was responsive and the phone responded quickly to input.
The data speeds were quick, averaging right around 700kps over 3 speedtests (dslreports.com/mspeed). (Pretty Fast For 3G)
The web browser was nice, formatted pages well and loaded quickly, things looked very similar to the pages on the iphone
.
Email is great on the Gmail client, push email worked as well as push on blackberry when sending test messages to the phone. This is the best email on a phone I have seen, I have used Windows mobile, blackberry, and played with the iphone.
Android market works very well, easy to find apps. They are sorted by category and searchable. Easy to download and install.
Overall I was impressed.
The things that I did not like,
I don't like the analog clock widget on the home screen. This is a personal taste issue, and the other people at my work liked it. There is no other clock widget available at this time. (BLAH DAMN BIG CLOCK GO AWAY!)
When installing an app it does not give you an option to install it to the memory card. On Windows Mobile I install apps that are not used everyday to the memory card and those that are used on a daily basis to the phone memory. (Why cant no one figure out where the apps install to?)
The keyboard is offset the the left of the phone and you have to reach over the controls on the right to use the slide out keyboard. It annoys me since the controls could have been mounted on the slider and not been in the way. ( i can see how that may be)
Overall I am impressed with Android as an operating system, and have only minor complaints about the physical device.
Battery life was not great but it was not fully charged and I was using it heavily for about 8 hours. (8 hours is good enough for me!!!)
There is no internet sharing out of the box, we will have to wait for someone to write an app.
There is no way to bypass the google login. When the phone boots up you have to login or create an account. If you absolutely don't want to set up a google account your only option is to return the phone during the return period.
Ill try to update this, feel free to post any specific questions and ill try to answer them over the next couple of days.
