I've noticed that my touchscreen response doesn't work right when using this motorola charger. I created a new post on this.. just look at my profile to see the post..

The charger looks kinda dangerous... the short, rigid connector could easily be bent out of shape or destroy the G1's USB port.

I posted this on the other thread, but Motorola and HTC use an Enhanced Mini Usb (EMB). Motorola has messed with their charger so that in some (many?) cases it only works with their phones. The idea behind this was, if you had one of their phones, they could screw you over by charging whatever they wanted for the charger.

I've been using the charger since December when I posted up above. Just got back from a trip matter of fact. Works great for me. It does only charge the phone once and then it needs to be charged again. Other than that I love it.

Hmm...I'll have to search but that makes no sense what so ever. There are so many myths out there about chargers. I just don't see how this charger has any affect on the touch screen. I just used it again last night while on the road. Everything works great.

But I'll search as you suggested.

Puts out 1000mah an hour too! so charges as quick at the charger.

    Nice.

For the record, I still haven't seen any sort of touch screen issues mentioned above and I've used the thing like 20 times now. Works great.

I use a motorola charger as my backup constantly, I fail to see how it can be harmful? The phone is designed to charge from usb (which matches the output of the moto charger at 500mA) and when the moto charger is plugged in it detects "USB Charging". What possible difference could there be between using it vs. USB? Or do you people who think it is bad, also think that using USB to charge your phone is dangerous as well?

I have not had a single issue with my phone that could possibly be related to charging from the motorola or USB from a computer. No touch screen issues (I think that was just one person who had those - and it was probably faulty hardware not a charger), nothing.

Well, i'm sure that moto chargers will function with our phone, but you should be aware that the pinout of the cable grounds 2 of the pins on the connector via resistors

    heres a pinout

i found this pinout of the HTC ext usb connector

they are the same on the usb side ofcourse

the only question is will the grounding of one of the data lines on the connector though a resistor have an adverse effect on the device over time, its definately possible that it could
