g1 doesn't support the http/web service of the hotmail/msn live. To get the imap/pop support and access you need to pay for that service. some sort of premium account/service.

Hotmail will work with your G1 but you have to upgrade your Hotmail account to Hotmail Plus which is $19.99/year. Microsoft loves to screw people on this.

I've tried the hotmail plus service. Actually, I am not even sure you have to sign up. If your interested just try the pop3.live.com settings.

But, it is no good anyways. It downloads about 20 messages starting with your oldest and then has connection errors and never downloads any more.

I've tried hotmail forwarding to gmail and that isn't that great anyways. For once, I just want hotmail to work real time on one of my devices.

Let me know if anyone else has figured out a good option for hotmail on the g1. Something with realtime or close enought to real time email alerts on the g1.

Yeah, you do have to sign up. If you go to the Hotmail Plus home page, you sign in with your Passport and then pay for it. It's pretty ridiculous. I hate how MS makes you pay for something that should be free. Oh yeah, that's why I have a G1!! :-)

The biggest killer of this phone for me is the email. Nothing works right for me still. I get no notifications, for any of my emails

The pop ones I setup keep downlioading the same emaikls over and over. There is no way to delete all???

Email on the G1 lacks period. This is probably the most used item on smartphones. My bb was so tits compared to this. I feel like in back in the stone age.

I am sooo ticked! I have a paid MSN account that I've had for a million years and don't want to rid of...but fade out. So I thought to forward my mail to my shiny new G1...WRONG. If anyone can even find a forward option on MSN or the stinkin' LIVE, please share.

OOOooohhh! I know, set a rule to forward the email....humph. Wrong again. I am ready to send this back and go back to my 8125. Yes it was big and clunky but dang it the thing downloaded my stuff and worked. Is there anyone out there that has found a solution (other than using only the gmail.)
Suffering from Deja Moo??? Feeling like you've heard this bull before? LOL!!
