DesignDawg: whew! thank goodness. thanks so much for your clarification. i was so genuinely worried (and excited) about getting it on monday that i really want to be proactive and do whatever i can do to ensure an exciting, trouble-free experience when i do receive it!
for a brief moment, i had thought that you were referring to me (!) as someone trying to spread "concern"! hah. anyhoo...i'm so glad that you're confident that there won't be an issue.
one thing that is sort of "going" for me is that i'm in a dense, urban area (NYC) so i know that it is 3G. at least THAT uncertainty is not present in my case. now, if only tmobile can really really be clear and clear up the EXACT steps that we're supposed to take when we receive our phones...that would be great.
i wonder why Tmobile doesn't make that process (after we get our phones in our hands) more EXPLICITLY clear? wouldn't that make sense? why the mystery and all the speculation?
Actually, he's probably not too far from the truth...
From the Presale FAQ on t-mobile.com:
For those participating in the presale event, the feature will be automatically added once you receive the phone. The monthly charge for the data service will be billed to your account.
and:
What will happen to my existing data feature or messaging value bundle?
If you subscribe to BlackBerry®, Sidekick®, T-Mobile Internet or a messaging feature, T-Mobile will automatically replace the feature(s) with the T-Mobile G1 data feature once your receive your new device.
And to add, if you ship something UPS you can request an email that will tell you that the package sent has been signed for and delivered.
So what he is saying is quite probable

mmm...the plot thickens. we now have two points of views:
(1) we need to do something in order to activate the 3G data plan for the new G1, and
(2) we do NOT need to do anything and the 3G data plan will, somehow, magically start up and work when we plug in our new G1 phones.
Mmm...what do y'all think?
I won't personally know until i get the phone![]()

I honestly don't even care untill I get the phone...
I just can't stand to see misinformation about ANYTHING given as fact.
I'll let you guys know on monday how it all works. Honestly, as long as I can make a phone call with it, not too concerend if it takes a day or two to get 3G up and running. And even then, I'll just keep using my pearl till all of this settles down.
Billy T? May i ask how you would be able to continue using your BB Pearl if your SIM card is in your new G1 phone? thx in advance!
