Late last night I downloaded BetterCut, not sure if that has anything to do with it. But this morning I went to text my husband who is Afghanistan and it wouldn't send, which has happened before so I did what always used to work - turn it off and back on. Except this time I turned it it did the G1 screen and went to the Android screen and won't go any further. I let it "try" to load for hours, took the battery out (which is the only way I can turn off now), pressed and held every button, open the keyboard a million times, did everything I could think of and nothing has worked. HELP! I'm lost without my phone!!!

Turn the phone on pushing the power button and the home button together . Hold until you get to the g1 screen . When you see the exclaimation point open the keyboard and press alt+l . Then press alt+w . This will wipe your phone and return to factory settings . Then press back and home together to reboot . When your phone loads back up , log into your google account . Your contacts will sinc back . Your apps will be there but you need to reinstall them . Good luck !

just curious, does doing this wipe keep your pictures/videos? I believe these are stored on the SD card so I would assume so?

I may do a clean wipe just to have a fresh start. I have no issues with my phone, nor have I ever... but it seems like an easy way to get rid of all the apps I never use/old messages/texts.

Any ill effects from doing this?

You will still have your pictures and videos because they are on the SD card. You will have to reinstall all of your apps and there will be no texts left. Make sure you have all of your contacts on google's server before you start.

I've done a few wipes and never had any problems.

anybody you talk to asking this question will usually say wiping, factory resetting your phone wont touch your photos or videos...however that is not the case for me, anytime I've ever factory reset my phone, the SD card gets erased and im not kidding I've called tmobile about this everytime it has ever happened, I would just back up your files just incase..

ONE QUESTION.... below the "reboot now" that I selected there was another option that said something like "apply update to SD Card"

What is this referencing? Could this be the problem the above poster has? I cant imagine there is an update for my SD card that was not OTA right?

What other cool tricks can I do? Most threads are just complaints on here... I like the real info.
