I didn't test it further, I'm sorry...I just tapped and held on a line of text, and it highlighted and copied it.

WANT PHONE NOW. ME LOSE ABILITY TO THINK ABOUT OTHER THINGS!

Seriously though great review. It's funny - almost every review you saw on release date had post after post about how ugly the phone was and every single person who has gotten their hands on one the first thing they say is how great it looks/feels.

Ring/notification: I asked this of Kaz and I remember Snoslicer had asked the same thing in a previous thread.

Does the ring option allow you to select vibrate then ring, or is it simultaneous? I personally like my phones to vibrate a few times then ring.

Sorry, I did check on this. The options on the Sounds/Notifications settings screen just has a checkbox for Vibrate On or Off. I did not check to see if turning the ringer volume all the way up or down caused it to vibe THEN ring (ala Motorola phones).

    ANOTHER big thing I forgot:

The APN (internet access address) settings page has a TON of entries (all for different countries that the G1 will work in), but they ALL have the same address...

    epc.tmobile.com

This leads me to believe (since that's the APN I use on iPhone) that the G1 does NOT have a way of requiring a specific data plan to work. It is accessing the same data network gateway that all new T-Mobile phones are using, and all older phones can be switched to use it too.

This is purely speculation, especially since there are rumors that preview devices are using a different APN than production devices will.

I think somewhere on the manual says "menu + c" is the short cut keys for copy, and "menu + v" is the short cut for paste.

Hey man- thanks for a very clear and detailed review!

    A couple questions-

regarding the browser, how did webpages look? Were there any formatting issues? Yknow.. like how a sidekick can't seem to handle CSS properly- example, my.yahoo.com

how was the zooming in and out?

how was clicking on small links? would you accidentally click the wrong link sometimes?

how was the overall speed and performance moving around on a webpage?

would animated gifs play? how about flash?
