My G1 has the wrong phone# in the "About this phone" menu.
I was sending some SMS messages to my wife and I notice that the G1 says I was sending them to "Me". For some reason, it thought the number I was sending them to was the same phone number the G1 is using, but this is not the case. I checked under the "About this phone" in Settings, and it has my wifes phone number instead of mine. Where does it get this phone # from? I didnt have this problem when using my old Motorola W490. Any ideas?

Mine also shows no number in the Phone Number field of that settings screen

Strange. Mine has my correct phone number. Is there an option anywhere to set what your number is? I'm guessing mine probably read it off the SIM.

yea, its strange. I am on a family plan, and the G1 is showing my wifes phone #. When she comes home, I am going to pop her SIM card in the phone to see what # shows up.

yes its read off the sim card. Where you one that used your wifes account to buy it cheaper and then used the sim card it came with? that would be why :P

Nope, this is the same SIM ive used for 8 years. Its actually a Voicestream SIM. Maybe ive been using her SIM for all these years. None of my other phones ever read the phone# from the SIM card, only contacts, etc.
BTW, I bought my G1 from Ebay for $260.

mine says a different phone number with a different area code (as I had them change my phone number and area code to a new number). Im wondering, free minutes somehow with fave5?

my phone number is not stored on the phone - though I would like for it to be in case someone found it. I have had nice people do this in the past.
Anyone know why this would not appear on the phone, brand new customer to T Mo.
