I have been reading up on Google's sites and documentation and I came across two interesting facts.
1. Google did not make the whole OS, some of you might already know this, it was made by different members of the OHA, I was surprised to see that the video player was made by some other company.
2. It seems that Google somewhere in there clause has the same thing apple has, it does not allow anyone to use the G1 for turn by turn directions. This surprises me since it is an open platform.
So Google and Apple don't like, why does BB and WinMo allow it?
My thoughts on 2 - I am thinking that Google doesn't like there maps being used, so maybe if Mapquest used there own software without building on the Google maps this would work?
My turn by turn navigation app is one of the things I miss from my BB and this truly sucks. Lets hope this phone gets as big as everyone is expecting
disclamer - I know how these threads turn..... I am not bashing the g1, I like my g1, I do not plan on returning it. I am simply stating these 2 little facts.
Does anyone think Tomtom or germin will release a app for gps? Would u buy it if they charge more then 100 bucks for it?
Have you tried AndNav yet, not quite there but....
AndNav 2.0 is supposed to be coming out soon. Maybe it will be this version.
Waiting for the Motorola CLIQ!

It isn't that Google prohibits turn-by-turn navigation, it's that their map providers prohibit such use of Google Maps.
AndNav2 is going to make use of Open Maps which does allow for turn-by-turn.
Andnav didint really work for me, we need Mapquest or some of the other guys to come out with something. Mapquest has one for Winmo and BB, it's awesome.
