Yes that would be excellent. I imagine if Android can get enough market share then there will be enough developer interest for an app like tcpmp or VLC.
Any answer to the memory leak problem? Has it improved since the firmware was upgraded?

One question that I see asked in other forums is to do a video test, with a high quality video with high bitrate. There are people concerned that hardware video acceleration was disabled on this phone because of the Qualcomm vs Broadcom patent dispute and they want to see if it has video acceleration.

This might sound dumb..but can you set mp3 as your ringtone?

One of my reason of having a G1 is because of the ringtone. I'm currently using an import phone (920sc Samsung) and obviously I can't have mp3 as my ringtone :\

Hey Kaz,

There was another thread wherein someone posted several pictures that were taking with the G1 camera. Problem is, they were downrezzed to display more comfortably online, and they were taken inside in low, tungsten light. While I thought they were encouraging pictures because I have some photography knowledge, there were many people who were really disappointed and don't know that the camera will probably take quite respectable pictures in full light (i.e. outside). Regardless, we don't HAVE any pictures that were taken in full light.

So, could you do that for us?

Take a few pictures...just whatever. Interesting stuff outside. Things with a lot of color, some detail, with plenty of light. And then post the ORIGINAL, full-size untouched images here somewhere? If they can't be handled full res in here, can we figure out some way to have them available for download?

That would be grand.

One of the cool things about the G1 is the market has a Ringtone editor in there already... So obviously someone agreed having to pay for ringtones when you already got a copy of the song is Bullsh!

How is the google street view compass mode? does it lag a lot? or does it move flawlessly when you move? and thank you for all the time you are putting into this to make us all feel a little better! We all appreciate it.
