I love my G1 just got it yesterday. One thing though the security on it sucks unless I missing something. I can't lock this thing down except for the screen lock with the pattern and of course when I turn the phone on with the SIM card code. Is there any place else that I may be missing for addittional security. If not is there software available on the android market. Other than this issue I love it.

There will be an app called Biowallet. You can choose what applications you want locked down with it.
It features handwriting analysis (weaker form of security) and retina scanning (higher form of security).
I think the screen lock and the Sim card security code should be all you need. If someone finds your phone and they try to get in it they wont because they have to enter the pattern first. If they try to remove the Sim card and then put it another phone they will find that they need to enter the Sim card security code first.
You want additional security on what aspect of the phone? Am sure as the adroid market gets bigger developers will start releaseing applications that will lock certain parts of the phone like just browser or just the messages or just the dialer and such...
Well I forgot to mention that when the screen is locked when a call comes in you can still answer it. On my Motorola Razr and Krzr when I locked my phone down when a call came in you have to enter the code first.
I'm just curious. Why does it matter if the phone can be answered when it's locked? (i mean like, what is a hypothetical situation, where that is a bad thing)
(I may sound sarcastic, because so many people are in forums these days -- but I really am actually just curious.)

ya well the camera sucks in the dark. so retna scan would suck if it was dark.

I also have a problem with the weak security on Android... the thing that bothers me the most would be people accessing my gmail account, I want to be able to secure it with a password.
It seems like an obvious flaw.
Seems to me that you guys didn't do your homework by researching the phone first. Before I took the plunge I knew that there weren't some security features on the G1 that I had on my BB Curve (e.g. a true password to unlock the phone, # of attempts before handheld wipe, IT level security...)
But even in the BB, if it's locked and a call comes in, you can take it. I'm with juice on this one, if a phone required me to put in a code first before answering the call, it would annoy me to no end.
I change my screen pattern lock every so often, but I haven't gone to the length of the SIM lock.
