Solutions to getting to GMAIL inbox

I am finding the use of GMail on my G1 very difficult to navigate.
When I am notified there are new messages, I go to them and the moment I open up the first message there is no way for me to get back to the inbox. I am forced to either REPLY/REPLY TO ALL/FORWARD/ARCHIVE?LABELS/DELETE a message. ONly by applying an action item can i then go back to the inbox. Despite the fact on the top of the screen there is a blue INBOX icon that is not clickable. Does anyone else have this problem. ANy solutions????

When you are in a message hit the menu button>more>back to inbox...

Press the menu button and then select the more button and then you can go to the inbox

Hmmm I either press the back button to go back into the inbox or you you can press the menu key, more options and you have the option to go back to the inbox.

use the arrow next to the nipple to go back to inbox to view other mails, instead of pressing the menu

YOu guys are great! Thank you. Just found the Menu/More/Back to Inbox option.
I still think the phone should have a clickable icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen for better navigation...

Why can't you just hit the back button on the phone? The menu/more/back is much harder!
